Je fietst een stuk op het Guldenspoorpad, een oude spoorwegbedding uit 1869 die nu dienstdoet als fietspad en onderdeel is van de fietssnelweg F45 tussen Gent en Kortrijk. Spoorlijn 83 was een Belgische spoorlijn die Kortrijk met Avelgem en Ronse verbond. De lijn was wel 28,7 km lang.
Deze was nog actief tot in 1991 toen er nog goederentreinen tussen Kortrijk en de Bekaert-fabriek in Zwevegem spoorden.
