E-biking between Nete, Ruppel and Schelde

This e-bike route between Nete, Ruppel and Scheldt lets you discover pearls in the Antwerp Campine, the Scheldeland and the Antwerp city region.

Not to be missed along this route

• The Zimmer Tower: Did you know that the watchmaker Louis Zimmer received congratulations for his timepiece in the Zimmer Tower by Albert Einstein, among others!
• The beguinage of Lier: Felix Timmermans once had an office here in the most beautiful beguinage in Flanders
• Zennegat and the 3 River Point: In Rumst, the Nete and the Dijle merge to form the Rupel, which flows into the Scheldt 12 kilometres away, making it the shortest river in Belgium.
• Water seal Cleydael: Here in the castle of Cleydael , near Aartselaar, Cornelis Sanders van Hemessen was beheaded in 1459 by order of Philip the Good.

What you need to know

• You cycle through a musical hotspot: Boechout
• On the Grote Markt of Lier in 1590 a woman was strangled and burned because she had been found guilty of witchcraft.
• The famous Duffel coat is named after Duffel.
• You will skim along the region known as the Triangle

Stop tip

Provincial Domain De Schorre is located just past Rumst along the Rupel. If you still have some energy left, a visit to the giant trolls of De Schorre is definitely recommended.
