Bike ride H/T to Scherpenheuvel

A cycle route (72 km) from junction 77 on the Pontstraat in Boortmeerbeek to Scherpenheuvel via the Leuven-Dijle canal, Kampenhout-Sas, Haacht, Werchter, Rotselaar, Aarschot, Langdorp, Rillaar and back. Between Werchter and Langdorp, the cycle route runs almost exclusively along the Demer banks. Possible crossing points along the route are Werchter (bridge), Rotselaar (Soldatenbrug), Demersprong in Aarschot, Demerbrug in Langdorp.
The diversion in Haacht via Scharent is due to the road works on the Werchtersesteenweg. Currently, only the right-hand cycle path along the Werchtersesteenweg, in the direction of Werchter, is accessible from the Weidestraat.
On the return trip from Scherpenheuvel, the cyclist can follow the right-hand cycle path along the Haachtsesteenweg until before the bridge of Kampenhout-Sas, continue cycling along the safe cycle path to the right of the Mechelsesteenweg and cross to the other side at the first roundabout, then turn left on the cycle path and a little further right into the Vekestraat that goes to the Leuven-Dijle towpath and continues to junction 77, the start of the bike tour.
