1. Meet behind the church of Jezus-Eik (V), in the parking lot of the cafeteria De Bosuil and exit 44. You pedal in the Bosuildreef, towards exit 43, on a tiled cycle path next to a paved road. At the first opportunity, you dive directly into the Sonian Forest, through the Haagbeukendreef. You first descend on the asphalt and then climb on a gravel road until you can turn left into the Prinsenweg. Then you dive under the E41 You stay in the Sonian Forest and cycle via the Prinsendreef to the intersection with the Mezendreef, which you follow on the left, towards Welriekende. Just before a parking lot, turn right into a gravel road and continue to follow it for a long time. Cross the roads you cross by passing under the barriers to stop cyclists. The road is bumpy and soggy (after some rains) due to the partial clearing of the forest over several hundred meters. Past a last gate (partially disappeared for the moment), you enter the Welriekende drive, which you follow on the right to the busy Brussels ring RO. For a while to the left, then go down the stairs of the tunnel under the ring.
Rest in the Welriekende drift
On the other side, you cycle away from the crowd and arrive at the first intersection, at chapel (1) of the Welriekende drift. You pedal next to the barrier to the right of the chapel in the Kapeldreef. Just a moment, because you're actually taking a narrow forest path immediately to the right after the barrier. This winding forest path splits, without signage. Keep left and pedal to a wider forest road: the Hendrickxdreef. Turn left, ignore all secondary roads and continue straight until you reach the Chaussée de la Hulpe. Control traffic lights for pedestrians and cyclists and pedal further on the Bundersdreef. Always straight, without worrying about the side lanes, not even the first exit of exit 43! At an intersection of forest roads, turn left (until exit 43 (sign on the right side of the road at the bottom of a pole)) into the hilly Tumiliweg. He now really enjoys the majestic beech trees of the magnificent Sonian Forest. You have to be very careful with a triple jump with junction 43! Take a hairpin turn to the right toward exit 47. You now cycle through the Vanderheydenlaan and you can, without worrying about secondary roads, let yourself be swollen up to the Duboislaan.
Getting on and off the language border
Cross it carefully and pedal further to the other side through the St. Michielsdreef reef. You have to climb slowly for a long time now. However, it doesn't have to be fast at all, take your time and enjoy the free oxygen cure and beautiful forest scenery until you can turn left at exit 47 in the Lorrainedreef towards exit 48. You can first go down, then back up until you can pedal left into the Verdunningsdreef (first asphalt track). It continues to enjoy the hilly paths, where you will be rewarded after each climb with a beautiful descent, where you do not have to give stairs. At a fork on the right, take the reef Saint-Corneille. You continue to follow it until you can take the Raafeikweg (direction exit 42) on the left. It plunges directly under the road to Charleroi. On the other hand, you continue pedaling through the beautiful beech forest to a crossroads. Follow this Meutedreef on the left. You now pedal on the linguistic and provincial border: Flemish Brabant left, Walloon Brabant right. Perhaps that's why there's no signage on the sidelines here. Keep driving straight ahead without worrying about these drifts until you get to a busy road. On the left the road is called Terhulpsesteenweg (Flemish Brabant), on the right the Chaussée de Bruxelles (Walloon Brabant). Carefully cross the busy road and, next to the entrance to the Argentine Embassy (2), continue cycling through the Meutedreef. From there is again signage, but quite rare.
Where the paved road turns to the right, you cycle straight into the Albert Van Laethemstraat. This dirt road quickly turns into a hollow downhill road. When you exit, you continue to descend, always by the Albert Van Laethemstraat. You won't find much signage anymore.
Hoeilaart to Overijse
Continue to follow the road until exit 42 in the centre of Hoeilaart. At the traffic lights of Jan Van Ruusbroeckpark, turn right, direction Malais and exit 4 You immediately get a difficult climb under the wheels. Continue to follow Chaussée de Wavre until exit 4 Here you choose exit 40, always straight until you can turn left into Breerijke. You pedal under the E411, the road becomes hollow and you drive on cobblestones. Take the cul-de-sac on the left, in the cemetery parking lot and the football fields behind. Turn right before the cemetery, into the unpaved and car-free Tenrodestraat. This country road turns into a paved road in front of the first houses. Turn right into the Hagaard, ignore the Kerkstraat on the right and continue straight on the paved road. Turn left with this road. You can go down sharply. Leave a road to the right and at the end of Hagaard, choose the road to the gym for a while, then diagonally to the left. Ignore the Heurkweg on the right and the Loensdelleweg on the left. Continue straight, pass the barrier, next to a football field, on the dirt road, further in front of a tennis court and another football field. At the fork, you choose the narrow path on the left, behind the football field. You go down to the pond in Mariëndal Park (3). In the background is the church of Overijse. Turn left, around the pond and exit the park. You have reached exit 40 and continue cycling towards exit 44. Just right on the red bike path, then left on the steep path. You will pass Overijse Church, the Druivenmuseum (4) and the De Met tavern. Cross Justus Lipsiusplein and take the P.I. Taymansstraat on the other side of the Brusselsesteenweg. A real wall! After the first corner, it's a little less steep, but it's still hard work. Don't worry about side roads until you can turn left into Korenarenstraat. Continue to follow this hollow road for local traffic until you can turn right into Hendrik Consciencelaan (one-way traffic). At the T-junction, turn right and follow Clement Vanophemstraat until you can turn left into the cul-de-sac Generaalbosweg. Past the last house, you enter the fields through a narrow ribbon of concrete on both sides of the road. It's going well. Keep your speed under control because at the end the road is suddenly tretreacherously erratic (crushed stone). You finally arrive at a roundabout and there you pedal right into the Spithertlaan. At the end, you follow the Gemslaan on the left. You also follow them to the end and now you turn left. You follow the Schransdreef until you can turn right into the Witherendreef. You roll it to the starting point.
