Description by the author

From Brussels, you pass Namur and Han-sur-Lesse to Gedinne via the N835 and the N952. From there, it is a stone's throw from the village of Louette-SaintPierre. It's especially quiet there. Just before the village you have a last café/tavern Le Refuge in Rue de la Semois – run by Flemings – for a drink and puddle at the beginning or end of this short but lovely walk. Park at St. Peter's Church (1840) (V) and first walk down the last part of the road you entered. You go left into the street. A little further you can see that it is the rue des Sorets. Past house number 21 – in front of a scrap dealer – take the dirt road climbing on the left. You will soon come across red and white GR signs. A little further, a stream winds to your right through the low meadow: the Barbais, which flows further into the Houille. The forest on your left is the Bois Côrai. Continue on this path and turn left onto a nature project in Natagora – the Walloon equivalent of Natuurpunt – on the left and a holiday cottage on the right. You ignore a grassy path on the left uphill. At a fork in a mixed piece of forest, keep right. You walk with the blue mountain bike panel (a tilting triangle with two spheres next to it). At another fork you follow the narrower mountain bike trail again, this time on the left. A little further, you walk on a clearing, then in a forest with large conifers. Finally, you arrive at an intersection with a paved road in front of you, on the left and right a road of dirt pebbles. Turn right now. To your left appears a dense forest of low pines, to the right an open plain. A lot of trees have been cut here, you pass several observation sites for drift hunting. You arrive again at a T-junction. Walk right, follow the paved path for almost 100 m, then turn left into the forest. At a crossroads, you choose the path straight, as well as the fluorode and white indications on the tree trunks. After a while, the path widens, now grassy. It is clear that few walkers pass through here. Finally, you return to a T-junction with a dirt pebble path. In front of you is the Gros Bois. Turn right here. After a while, you see a rock on the left in the forest. And again, you come to a T-junction at the end. This time with asphalt. If you turn left here, you will arrive at a picnic area-1. There are tables with benches and there are even two brick barbecues. Here, the 60 m high Millennium Tower watchtower (2001) was demolished in 2009 due to wood rot. The large wooden chalet served as a reception room. According to an information panel, it is the Croix-Scaille plateau, with 503 m the highest point in the province of Namur. In winter, it is a starting point for cross-country skiers who can slide cross-border to and from the France. Yet you retrace your steps from here, which is to turn right at the already mentioned fork. Pay attention now: after about 20 m, at the height of a larger beech, you walk left into the forest. At first, do not pay attention to these tall grass and some nettles, after only a few meters there is really a wide path between the beech trees. Where this path ends, you will see a little further in front of you a more open place with ferns. Do not walk further, but choose another ancient and rarely used path on the left. Just when you think, "this doesn't stop anywhere," you come to a T-junction with a gravel road. to the right and about 20 m further left in a narrower forest path. Along the GR dashes and some (fallen high places), you go down all along the hill. At a turnstile and signage, you find yourself on a quiet road. Here on the left, with the railway on the right below, and passed the belvedere Louis Hallet 2 clearly on the right. Over the railway bridge, this road leads to the center. Want a second walking loop? Then take the same path to the other side as before. Now cross the bridge over the Salm - with the yellow arrows of the Hottlîs cycle path. Climb the stairs to the road, on the left and a little further, in a Toyota garage, across the road to a narrow staircase. At the top of the houses on the left and then on the right, with two benches, the asphalt of the Ristonvennes uphill. At a crossroads, you turn right and climb along this narrower road. On the right again the watchtower on the hill. Past the end of the agglomeration turn left, along the bike path. At the next fork, with another wooden gazebo, keep right. In the meantime, enjoy the panorama and architectural styles of the Ardennes. Then, the road (Mont de Fosse) descends quietly to a busy road. Trois-Ponts is 1 km to the right, but we prefer to go a little further through the forest. So turn left onto the separate bike path. About 300 m further, past a B&B, you carefully cross a dead end road to Henri Moulin. On a T, you turn left, in the direction of the rushing water. Over a bridge, a gravel road takes you higher up the hill, to a crossroads. Here on the left, on a pleasant forest road. Ignore the side roads and continue to the asphalt. You are in much more open territory now. On the side of the road grow elderberry, hedgehog and mutual oak. Turn right and at the fork follow the street back to the right, downhill now. If another paved road joins the promenade, continue walking on the right, until you reach your starting point.
