The Spree meanders here in two bends, forming an 'omega', and over those two bends stretches the new Federal Chancellery to the left. The thought behind this is very symbolic: banks connecting, bridges being built, east and west meeting here, one can only assume. Perhaps the opinion of the Berliners will improve over time, but just as positively as they spoke about the restored Reichstag, they found this government building, initiated by Kohl, to be megalomaniacal. It has become a long complex of buildings and bridges, which still looks elegant due to the color and the enormous amounts of air between the stones. The entrance area is located at the side of the Reichstag.
