The name Bundeskanzleramt (2001) refers to the function of the building: the workplace of the German Chancellor. It is one of the most striking buildings in the new Berlin. The impressive building, with its special 36-meter high facade, radiates the new awareness of the German government. The transparent front provides passersby with a good view of the interior of the building. Behind the glass, on the sixth floor, the German cabinet meets. One floor higher is Angela Merkel's office. At the very top lies the official residence of the Chancellor.
