Vlotho is a district located on the Weser river in the city of Vlotho in the East Westphalian district of Herford. Until December 31, 1968, Vlotho was an independent city in the Vlotho district with the independent municipalities of Exter and Valdorf. It was enlarged on January 1, 1973, by the incorporation of the municipality of Uffeln located to the right of the Weser in the former Hausberge district. The district of Vlotho, with 6,920 inhabitants, is the most populous in the city, and it also houses the administrative seat of the city.
