Barmen-Center

The Wuppertal residential quarter Barmen-Mitte is one of six quarters in the district of Barmen. It is the historical center Gemarke of the former independent large city of Barmen.
The residential quarter, which covers an area of 0.53 km², is located east of the geographical center of Wuppertal, in a valley on both sides of the Wupper river. It is bordered to the north by the route of the disused Wuppertaler Nordbahn, to the west by the streets Steinweg and Fischertal, to the south by the railway line Elberfeld–Dortmund, and to the east by the streets Heidter Berg, Bachstraße, and Westkotter Straße. Clockwise, Barmen-Mitte is surrounded by the quarters Sedansberg, Oberbarmen-Schwarzbach, Heckinghausen, Heidt, Kothen, and Friedrich-Engels-Allee. The Wupper river, with the Wuppertal Suspension Railway above it, runs through the residential quarter located in the valley, while the federal road 7, referred to as Höhne here, runs parallel to it.
