The Holocaust Memorial, the Holocaust-Mahnmal or the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is created by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold. It consists of 2,711 concrete slabs .
There was a bit of controversy related to the anti-graffiti paint: the Degussa company provided the anti-graffiti substance Protectosil used to cover the steles. The company had been involved in several different ways in the National-Socialist persecution of the Jews.
