The Bollendorf Castle in the municipality of Bollendorf stands on a rock in the river valley of the Sauer on the foundations of an ancient Roman fortification. The castle was the seat of a sub-probstei belonging to the provostry of Echternach until the end of the 18th century, managing the farms of Bollendorf, Ernzen, and Irrel from there. The property is now privately owned and is used as a hotel with holiday apartments and a restaurant.
