The double grave of Oberkassel was discovered in 1914 by quarry workers in today's Bonn district of Oberkassel. Under flat basalt blocks and wrapped in a sparse layer of clay stained with red ochre, lay the skeletons of a man about 50 years old, a woman aged 20 to 25, the remains of a dog, additional animal remains, and worked animal bones.
