The Grevenburg is located one kilometre northeast of the village of Sommersell in the town of Nieheim in the district of Höxter in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The Grevenburg is a moated castle ; the estate area around the building covers 2.5 hectares and is now a historic landscape park. The noble family of Oeynhausen acquired the site and built a farm there in 1536. The castle was named after the Greve stream. The descendants built the small Renaissance manor house between 1566 and 1579 as a family ancestral home. Originally, the Grevenburg was surrounded by an approx. 18 m wide moat, which was enclosed by a high and thick ring wall. Around 1850, the moat was partially filled in and ponds were created. Around 1950, the park was rebuilt again. The park is characterized by old trees.
