Gut Zichtau is an estate in Zichtau, a district of the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen in northern Saxony-Anhalt. The surroundings are characterized by the Hellbergen.
Gut Zichtau was acquired around 1420 by Ludolf VI. von Alvensleben and remained in the possession of the von Alvensleben family for over 400 years. During the Thirty Years' War, Zichtau lost its inhabitants due to the plague and was ravaged by imperial troops. Under Busso XIII. von Alvensleben, Gut Zichtau was restored around 1630. In 1681, the estate was divided into two knightly estates, the "Old Side" and the "New Side," under Busso's sons. In 1811, district captain Johann Christian Solbrig acquired the "New Side" and from 1817 began reforesting the completely deforested Hellbergen. Around 1820, he created a landscape park around the manor house that received considerable attention at the time, featuring ponds, paths, pavilions, benches, and sculptures, and he incorporated the surrounding landscape into his beautification efforts. This included "pleasure walks" to Stakenberg and Waldhausberg with wide footpaths lined with fruit trees, poplars, and young birch plantings, the establishment of viewpoints and resting places equipped with tables, benches, wooden temples, and small houses, as well as three fish ponds, one of which, redesigned into a forest swimming area in 1969, remains to this day. With the sale by Solbrig's heirs to Duke-Anhalt Köthener State Minister Gustav Albert von Goßler, the two estates were reunited in 1853. The park near the house was further maintained under the von Goßler family, but Solbrig's landscape enhancements around the estate gradually deteriorated after 1945. After 1945, Gut Zichtau was used as a seed production facility with a training center, later by an agricultural production cooperative. The structural condition of the estate deteriorated after 1990, and the landscape park became overgrown.
