The Lexfähre is a lock with an overlying road drawbridge located in the course of the western/lower part of the Eider. It is situated in the municipality of Wrohm/Schleswig-Holstein and on the border between the districts of Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Dithmarschen.
The Lexfähre lock was commissioned in 1936 after a construction period of two years. It is a lock with a lock chamber that facilitates boating traffic between Rendsburg, the Gieselau Canal, and Tönning. The lock serves to maintain the upper water level of the Eider from Rendsburg to Lexfähre, with a planned average water level of 4.80 meters at that time. The Nordfeld lock downstream ensures an average water level of 4.00 meters. The drawbridge designed by Friedrich Voß is the only crossing of the Eider between the bridge from Hamdorf to Breiholz and the drawbridge in Pahlen.
