The Lech dam stage 23 – Merching, which has been called Mandichosee since 2003, is a dam on the Lech between Landsberg am Lech and Augsburg. It is used for hydroelectric power generation by Uniper Kraftwerke GmbH, but also for recreation.
The reservoir has gained great importance as a recreational paradise for local recreation in the Augsburg metropolitan area; it is the largest body of water in the Aichach-Friedberg district. The dam is located west of the municipality of Merching and east of Königsbrunn. The name Mandichosee was given to the reservoir in 2003 after the Bavarian prince Mandicho.
