The Baare Villa is an entrepreneur's villa located at Reiterweg 13 in the Höntrop district of Wattenscheid in Bochum. The adjacent Höntroper Straße was therefore called "Baarestraße" until it was incorporated in this section of the road. The villa was built in 1888 by the Bochum Association for Casting Steel Manufacturing for its managing director Louis Baare, in close proximity to the Vereinigte Maria Anna Steinbank coal mine. Baare had it expanded with a service building, and his son Fritz Baare added a tower and extensions in 1904. Fritz Baare's widow lived here until 1945, after which it served as a British officers' casino, and later the house became a children's sanatorium. In 1974, the company sold the villa to the city of Wattenscheid. Today, an association operates a Waldorf kindergarten here.
