Horneburg Castle is a former aristocratic residence in Datteln, Germany. This was the seat of the Lords of Oer until 1418.
The Horneburg was first mentioned in a document in 1220 in the Great Vogtei Roll of Count Friedrich von Isenberg-Altena. There it is noted that Horneburch belonged to the Oberhof Richrode. In a contract of atonement between the Archbishop of Cologne, Frederick III of Saarwerden, and Count Engelbert IV of the Mark dated 29 October 1384, the Horneburg was mentioned in the Vest Recklinghausen.
