Niedermühle is the name given to the northern watermill on the Aa in the Burgsteinfurt district of Steinfurt.
The mill was first mentioned in a document in 1352 as a "new mill" to distinguish it from the castle mill a few hundred metres upstream, but it probably existed a few years earlier. In 1475 the mill was first mentioned under the name "Niedermühle". In the 17th century, the mill was probably used continuously as an oil mill. After the Second World War, the operation of the mill was discontinued; the right to dam was handed over to the city in 1957.
