The Speicherbecken Geeste on the B 70 near Geeste between Lingen and Meppen in the German state of Lower Saxony was built in the 1980s as a cooling water basin for the 12-kilometre-away nuclear power plant in Lingen. Nowadays it is also a tourist area with extensive water sports such as bathing, windsurfing, sailing, diving and so on.
