The Coevorden-Piccardie Canal connects the German South-North Canal near Georgsdorf with the Dutch Stieltjes Canal near Coevorden. The canal, which was originally built for shipping, has only been a drainage canal since 1965.
Along this canal, part of the art roads project, with works by visual artists, has been realized. This project is a cross-border project for visual arts along the Vecht from Nordhorn in Germany to Zwolle in the Netherlands.
