Koblenz-Güls is a district of Koblenz. The place, first mentioned in 775, is located on the Moselle and was incorporated in 1970. Since 1938, the neighboring village of Bisholder has belonged to Güls. Today, it is a purely residential area situated somewhat away from the actual city area of Koblenz.
The first settlement in the river valley of present-day Güls was of Celtic origin and is likely to have been called "Golu" or "Golo." With the advance of the Romans, the Celts living west of the Rhine came under Roman rule. In 1965, remains of a Roman aqueduct were found at the Mühlbach, suggesting that there was a Roman settlement here.
