The Petersberg telecommunications tower was built between 1963 and 1965 by the Deutsche Post on the Petersberg near Halle next to the existing radio relay tower.
The reason for its construction was the expansion and transmission improvement of the Südwestring radio link. Since the takeover by the Deutsche Bundespost, later Deutsche Telekom and then Deutsche Funkturm, the telecommunications tower has been operated for the distribution of several radio programs for the greater Halle area. The station operator is Media Broadcast. In general, the location of the telecommunications tower is also referred to as a hall.
