Bilstein is a village with over a thousand inhabitants in the municipality of Lennestadt, in the Sauerland, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In the village is the castle Burg Bilstein.
The village of Bilstein is located in the southwest of the municipality of Lennestadt, in the valley of the Veischedebach, a left tributary of the river Lenne. The Bundesstraße 55 runs through this valley and therefore also through Bilstein from Olpe to Grevenbrück, municipality of Lennestadt. Bilstein is located 7 kilometres south of the mouth of the Veischedebach in the Lenne, on the outskirts of Grevenbrück. A 6 km long mountain road leads eastwards to Altenhundem, the capital of Lennestadt. There is also the nearest railway station. The village is located at about 305 meters above sea level.
