The St. Salvator is a pilgrimage complex above Schwäbisch Gmünd. It consists of two rock chapels that together form the pilgrimage church of St. Salvator, as well as a Stations of the Cross with several chapels. The Stations of the Cross, as they exist in Schwäbisch Gmünd, are unique.
Even before 1483, there was a cult site on the Nepperberg, also called Eberstein. In that year, the Ulm Dominican Felix Fabri mentioned during his visit to the Jacob's Cave in Jerusalem that it reminded him of a much smaller but very similar cave, the Eberstein near Gmünd in Swabia.
