Haus Obereimer was an estate owned by the Electors of Cologne and the centre of the princely zoo in Arnsberg. Since the 19th century, the Arnsberg State Forestry Office has been located there. Today, the surrounding district is also called Obereimer after the estate.
In the area of today's city quarter, there were several farms in the Middle Ages, which were subject to taxes to different lords. From 1627 onwards, the electoral head waiter Hermann Dücker succeeded in buying up various estates and manor rights to the courts and transforming them into a manor freed from valuations and contributions and eligible for the state parliament.
