The Wilhelmshavener Zeitung is an independent daily newspaper founded in 1874, published daily except Sundays in Wilhelmshaven. It is issued in Berliner format by the Brune-Mettcker Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft mbH in Wilhelmshaven. The newspaper is the only daily newspaper in Wilhelmshaven. Its distribution area is the city of Wilhelmshaven and the adjacent district of Friesland. The sold circulation is 13,671 copies, a decrease of 51.6 percent since 1998. The Wilhelmshavener Zeitung forms the newspaper group Wilhelmshaven together with the neighboring newspapers Jeversches Wochenblatt and Anzeiger für Harlingerland. The regional supplement pages are provided by the Nordwest-Zeitung, which is published in Oldenburg.
