The German Naval Museum in Wilhelmshaven showcases the development of German military maritime activity since 1848. The museum's focus is on the representation of the Federal Navy/German Navy. It has been in existence since 1998 and is privately funded.
The museum is located between the connection harbor and the South Beach promenade, in close proximity to the landmark of the city of Wilhelmshaven, the Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge. The museum is housed in the building of the former "Scheibenhof workshop" at South Beach 125. The Scheibenhof workshop is a protected historic remnant of the torpedo yard built around 1888 at the Imperial Shipyard. Adjacent to the museum is an approximately 3000 m² large outdoor area with berths directly at the connection harbor.
