The Villa Söhnlein-Pabst in the Hessian capital Wiesbaden was built from 1903 to 1906 by the Zurich architectural firm Pfleghard and Haefeli for the sparkling wine producer Friedrich Wilhelm Söhnlein on Warmen Damm.
To provide a sense of home for his American wife Emma Pabst, the villa was designed after the model of the White House in Washington, which is why it is also called the White House. This was probably also a reason why the American military authority used the villa from 1945 to 1990, lastly as the headquarters of the site. From 1995, it was owned by the state of Hesse.
