St. Mary's Church is the Catholic parish church of Salzgitter-Bad and the second oldest Catholic church in the city of Salzgitter.
The first St. Mary's Church in Salzgitter existed as early as the 15th century. This was built of wood and stood near today's Marienplatz in Salzgitter-Bad. This church was first mentioned on 14 February 1452, when the brothers Dietrich and Arndt von Gitter transferred a farm and three Hufen of land to "Our Dear Women's Chapel". In another document dated 30 May 1478, the patrons of the church were given half a hoofs in the Feldmark of Vepstedt and four farms in Salzgitter.
