Description

In 1922, two workers who had worked in a brickworks in the Ruhr area came home along this road to celebrate Christmas. In this place, one of them killed the other and stole his pay packet. His watch and a number of items of clothing were also taken. A few days later, during a drive hunt, the body was found. After inquiries at the factory, it became clear who the possible perpetrator was. He was arrested and after a while he confessed. The perpetrator was sentenced to death, which was later commuted to life imprisonment. The perpetrator died in prison during the Second World War. More info on the plaque that is hung here.
