The Weser Mountains (also known as Weser Chain[1]) is a medium range with elevations up to 336 m above NHN[2] located in the Weser Uplands in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony (Germany).
The densely forested Weser Mountains are part of the northern foothills of the German low mountain ranges at the southern edge of the Northern German Plain and are bordered to the west by the TERRA.vita Nature Park and to the east by the Weserbergland Schaumburg-Hameln Nature Park.
The Weser Mountains are widely known for the Schaumburg Castle, which stands on the Nesselberg (approximately 225 m) located 12 km east of Rinteln and serves as both a namesake and a landmark for the Schaumburg Land.
