The Kriemhildmühle dates from the 18th century and stands on the northern part of the city wall near the historic centre of Xanten. It is a brick mill with scaffolding. It is an upper porter, which type is called Holländermühle in Germany. Mills on city walls are also called Bärwindmühlen in the Lower Rhine region because of their shape.
