The Obermaubach dam in Obermaubach in the municipality of Kreuzau in the Düren district, NRW, was built in 1933 and 1934 and serves as a compensation basin for the varying inflows of the Rur and for controlling a as uniform as possible release of water into the Rur. The reservoir is located both in the area of the municipality of Kreuzau and in the upper area within the municipalities of Hürtgenwald and Nideggen.
