Leerodt Castle was a moated castle in the Wurm Valley and is preserved today as a ruin between the towns of Süggerath and Müllendorf on the L 42 in the area of the town of Geilenkirchen.
It is no longer known when Schloss Leerodt existed and who built it. But as early as 1308, the knight's seat was mentioned in documents as "curia de Leirode" and also the knightly family of the same name. The final syllable "rode", "roide", "rodt" suggests that the castle, probably in post-Carolingian times, was built in a clearing area, as were the surrounding villages of Randerath, Uetterath, Tripsrath and Süggerath.
