The Mentzelpark is located in the Berlin district of Köpenick in the Treptow-Köpenick district. It is named after Albert Mentzel, who owned the land.
Mentzel was the brother-in-law of the entrepreneur and commercial councilor Carl Spindler and a partner in the W. Spindler laundry and dyeing business. The villa of Albert Mentzel, which had a park, was located on Oberspreestraße and the property extended to the Spree. In 1925, the city acquired the park. Today, it is part of route number 1 of the 20 green main paths that run through Berlin, and the Europaradweg R1. In 2011, the borders on the slope were renewed. Since 2013, there have been plans to designate part of the areas as orchard meadows.
