The Dutch Straupitz Windmill is a technical monument located at the northern end of the Spreewald in Straupitz. It was built in 1850 on the site of a post mill built in 1640.
From about 1640, a wooden post mill stood on this site. In 1850 it burned down and was replaced in the same year by a Dutch brick windmill: "The millmaster Gottfried Nitschke zu Straupitz in the district of Lübben hereby obtains the permission of the State Police [...] to be allowed to build a Dutch windmill provided that the mill is surrounded by a 5-foot-high plank or dense lattice fence. Frankfurt am Oder, 13 July 1850, Royal Ministry of the Interior.
