The district of Wörblitz is located northwest of the town of Dommitzsch in the Elbe lowlands west of the river along Federal Highway 182. The area is situated in the floodplain on alluvial soils, which are mostly used as meadows and pastures. The areas outside the floodplain are predominantly on sandy soils.
In 992, the settlement place Wirbilendorf was first mentioned in documents. In 1560, the village was already called Werblitz, which was also referred to as such in 1791. Today, the village of Wörblitz is a street village, and the farmers cultivated a total of 412 hectares of land in the dike and outside in 1895. The population developed from 21 individuals in 1748 to 287 in 1910 and 725 in 1999.
