La frazione di Wörblitz si trova a nord-ovest della città di Dommitzsch, nella pianura fluviale dell'Elba, a ovest del fiume, lungo la strada statale 182. La località si trova nella valle su terreni alluvionali, utilizzati principalmente come prati e pascoli. I terreni situati al di fuori della valle si trovano generalmente su terreni sabbiosi.
Nel 992 il posto abitato di Wirbilendorf viene menzionato per la prima volta in documenti ufficiali. Nel 1560 il villaggio era già conosciuto come Werblitz, nome che fu utilizzato anche nel 1791. Oggi il villaggio di Wörblitz è un villaggio stradale e gli agricoltori coltivavano nel 1895 un totale di 412 ettari di terra all'interno e all'esterno della diga. La popolazione è passata da 21 persone nel 1748 a 287 nel 1910 e 725 nel 1999.
