The Altmark village of Wendischbrome, a triangular square village, lies east of the upper reaches of the Ohre. The nearest village is Benitz in Lower Saxony, about one kilometre to the southwest. Brome, which gives it its name, is two kilometres to the south. The nearest town in Saxony-Anhalt is Nettgau, which lies three kilometres to the north. Near Wendischbrome are the nature reserves "Ohreaue" and "Ohreaue bei Altendorf und Brome".
Wendischbrome was founded as a Wendish settlement, while the German settlers at that time were mainly concentrated in Brome or Altendorf. From about 1420 to 1535, Wendischbrome lay desolate before it was rebuilt as Rundling.
