Alexisbad station is one of the oldest stations of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen and was opened around 1886 and 1887. The station is located on the main route of the Selketalbahn that goes from Quendlinburg and Gernrode to Stiege and then to Eisfelder Talmühle, where the Selketalbahn connects to the Harzquerbahn. The station mainly serves as a transfer station.
The station also has some amenities such as a ticket office, sovenir shop and a water supply for the steam trains. Furthermore, all trains have a stopover in Alexisbad and the station is also used as a transfer point.
