The seal station Friedrichskoog is an authorized reception center for abandoned or sick seals in the Schleswig-Holstein municipality of Friedrichskoog, according to the agreement for the conservation of seals in the Wadden Sea. It has been in existence since 1985.
In addition to information and environmental education work, the animal welfare-compliant rearing of harbor seals and grey seals, as well as application-oriented, current research initiatives for species protection, are the main tasks of the seal station. It is the only authorized place for raising seal pups on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast. The station houses both pups and "permanent guests".
