Hainitz, Upper Sorbian Hajnicy, is a settlement that belongs to the core locality of the municipality of Großpostwitz in Saxony.
Hainitz is located north of Großpostwitz on the federal highway 96 in the Lusatian Mountains. The place consists of two parts of the settlement separated by the Spree. The older farmer hamlet Alt-Hainitz lies east of the federal highway at the foot of the 431.9 m high Thromberg on a ridge between the grounds of the Cosul Water and Hainitzer Water, which flow into the Spree here. To the west of Alt-Hainitz in the Spree lowlands is the flax spinning mill with the workers’ settlements Spreetal and Fabrikstraße.
