The Deutsches Damast- und Frottiermuseum is a German "museum in operation" in Groβschönau, located in the southeast of Saxony. The museum displays various handlooms for making damask and terry cloth. Various demonstrations are also held in the museum and explanations are given about the history of the Upper Lusatian textile industry.
In the adjacent "factory" 27 machine looms have been installed, where the weft thread is inserted with a shuttle or with air. Various machines have also been installed that are used to wind coils or design patterns, among other things.
Furthermore, more than three-hundred-year-old damask rugs are on display in the museum.
