The District Court of Görlitz is a court of ordinary jurisdiction in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Dresden. It was reestablished in 1993. The District Court is located in Görlitz, Saxony. It is subordinate to the Higher Regional Court of Dresden, which in turn is subordinate to the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe. The president of the court has been Friedrich-Leopold Count zu Stolberg-Stolberg since January 1, 2008. The district of the District Court of Görlitz includes the local courts of Görlitz, Löbau, Weißwasser, and Zittau. According to the Saxon Location Act of January 27, 2012, since January 1, 2013, the local courts of Bautzen, Hoyerswerda, and Kamenz have also been part of the district court district of Görlitz. The former District Court of Bautzen is maintained as an external chamber.
