The Ständehaus in Görlitz was the meeting place for the land estates of Prussian Upper Lusatia. The three-story, castle-like building was inaugurated in 1854 and has served as a nursing and retirement home since 2000.
The Ständehaus is located in the city center. To the north and northeast, a green space and the adjacent city park surround the building. Along the east side, where the entrance portal is also located, the road Am Stadtpark enters Dr.-Kahlbaum-Allee coming from the border crossing point. A little over two decades after the construction of the Ständehaus, the Reichenberger Bridge was built to the east over the Lusatian Neisse, creating a major traffic axis into what was then the eastern part of Görlitz.
