The old brewery Potsdam is located in Babelsberg in the old weaver colony behind the property Alt Nowawes 30 and 30a. The brewery consisted of several building parts. According to the few available documents, the cooling tower was built first between 1860 and 1875. From 1895, the main building in the style of the Neo-Renaissance and the horse stable were constructed. Until 1939, the beer "Schlossbräu" was brewed here.
During the war, the vaulted cellars served as air raid shelters. Later, there was a joinery, a workshop, and various storage facilities in the buildings. After the Wende, the buildings stood empty and fell into disrepair. In 2004, a renovation agency bought the property on behalf of the city and developed a development plan.
