La vieille brasserie de Potsdam se trouve à Babelsberg dans l'ancienne colonie de tisserands derrière la propriété Alt Nowawes 30 et 30a. La brasserie se composait de plusieurs bâtiments. Selon les rares documents disponibles, la tour de refroidissement a été construite en premier entre 1860 et 1875. À partir de 1895, le bâtiment principal dans le style néo-renaissance et l'écurie ont été réalisés. Jusqu'en 1939, la bière "Schlossbräu" y était brasserie.
Pendant la guerre, les caves voûtées servaient de bunker antiaérien. Plus tard, il y avait dans les bâtiments un atelier de menuiserie, un atelier et divers dépôts. Après la réunification, les bâtiments étaient vides et se dégradaient. En 2004, un organisme de réhabilitation a acheté le terrain pour le compte de la ville et a élaboré un plan d'urbanisme.
