The Burg Gerolstein, also known as Leeuwenburcht, Burg Gerhardstein, or Junkernburg, is a castle ruin of a hill castle near the town of Gerolstein in the Eifel.
The Leeuwenburcht is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1115, in which Gerhard von Blankenheim is named as the owner. The former name 'Garhardstein' is likely the namesake of the town 'Gerolstein'. Between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, the castle was expanded and fortified several times.
