Xanten railway station

Xanten station is a regional railway station west of the city centre of Xanten on the Rheinhausen–Kleve railway.
Since its partial closure towards Kleve in 1990, it has been the terminus of the line, which has been in operation since 15 August 1904.

The current station was opened in 1904 with the Lower Rhine line. Until 1914, it was called Xanten Staatsbahnhof to distinguish it. From 1921 until the nationalization of the Boxtel Railway in 1925, it was called the Xanten Reichsbahn. From then on, it bore the name Xanten. Passenger services, which had been suspended in 1945, could not be resumed from the north until 1947 and from the south in 1948. In 1989, passenger traffic to Kleve was discontinued, and in 1990 freight traffic was also discontinued, and since then Xanten has been the terminus of the line.
